Introduction:
The Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is a government-mandated savings scheme designed to provide financial security and stability to employees during their retirement. It is crucial for individuals to regularly monitor their EPF balance to ensure they are on track to meet their financial goals. In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of checking your provident fund balance, enabling you to stay informed about your accumulated savings and plan for a secure future.
How to check for PF balance?
You can check your pf balance in a variety of methods, both with and without UAN. The following is a list of them:
Give a missed call to mobile number 9966044425
Send an SMS to mobile number 7738299899
Use the EPFO online portal
Use the UMANG mobile application
Check PF using the EPFO Online portal:
Make sure your employer has activated your Universal Account Number (UAN) before checking your EPF amount. For all employees engaged in the EPF programme, a UAN is a special identifying number that is given. No matter how many companies an individual works for during their career, they should only have one UAN. UAN is crucial because the EPF services procedure is now conducted online. Accessing your PF account services, such as withdrawal, checking your EPF balance, and applying for an EPF loan, is made simple via UAN.
Once your UAN number is operational, take the following actions:
Step 1: Go to the EPFO portal. Go to the “Our Services” tab and select the “For Employees” option from the drop-down menu.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Member passbook’ option under “Services.”
Step 3: A login page will appear. Enter your UAN number and password here after it has been activated.
Step 4: Select the ‘Member ID’ and click on the ‘View Passbook [Old: Full]’ option.
Step 5: Your PF details will be displayed on the screen.
Step 6: You can print this passbook by clicking on the ‘Download Passbook’ option.
Check PF balance using the UMANG app:
The Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) app can be downloaded by employees to check the status of their EPF account on their smartphones. You can file and track claims using the app in addition to checking EPF balances. To utilise the app, users must first register once with their UAN-registered mobile number.
Let’s check at how you can view your EPF transactions using the UMANG app:
Step 1: Download the UMANG app from Google Play Store or App Store.
Step 2: Select the “EPFO” option listed under ‘All Services’ tab.
Step 3: Under ‘Employee Centric Service’, click on ‘ View Passbook’.
How to check PF balance without UAN?
Check PF balance by sending an SMS:
Once your KYC information has been merged with the UAN, proceed as follows:
Step 1: Send an SMS to 7738299899, a cellphone number.
Step 2: ‘EPFOHO UAN ENG’ will be used to send the message.
Step 3: Your preferred language for communication must be set in the SMS. Simply type in the first three letters of your chosen language to do so. Use the first three letters of the word English, i.e. EPFOHO UAN ENG, if you want to receive updates in English.
Step 4: Enter EPFOHO UAN MAR if you want to receive message updates in Marathi. English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali are all supported languages for this service.
Check PF balance by giving a missed call:
By placing a missed call from your registered mobile number to the permitted phone, you can find out your EPF balance. This service is only accessible if your UAN and KYC information have been integrated. If you are unable to accomplish this, you can ask your employer for assistance.
Follow the instructions below once your KYC information has been merged with the UAN:
Step 1: Make a missed call from your registered mobile phone to 9966044425.
Step 2: You will receive an SMS containing your PF information after placing a missed call.
Is e-Nomination process for PF account mandatory?
There is no mandate for completing nomination of PF accounts according to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). To help your nominees inherit your EPF account after your passing and protect your loved ones, it is advised that you complete an electronic nomination for your PF account.
How to submit an e-Nomination in EPFO?
- Go to the UAN Member e-Sewa website.
- Enter the UAN number, password, captcha code and ‘Sign In’ button.
- Now, select the ‘E-nomination’ option under the ‘Manage’ tab.
- Click on ‘Yes’ to update the family declaration.
- Now add the family member’s details in the e-nomination form by clicking on ‘Add Family Details’. More than one nominee can also be added.
- Click on ‘Nomination Details’ to declare the total amount of share.
- Next, click on ‘Save EPF Nomination’.
- Lastly, click on ‘E-sign’ to generate OTP and submit the OTP received on the mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
How to check PF balance without registered mobile number?
You don’t always need to verify your registered mobile number to see your PF balance. To login and check the PF status, all you need is your UAN and password. See the straightforward procedure below:
Step 1: Go to PF passbook portal website and login with your UAN and password.
Step 2: Now select the PF account for which you want to check your PF balance and click on view PF passbook old.
Step 3: In your PF account, you may now view the combined employee and employer balances. You can also check the pension balance in the last column of the PF passbook.
Step 4: If you want to check yearly PF contributions then click on the view passbook (new: yearly) option.
Conclusion:
Regularly monitoring your provident fund balance is essential to ensure your financial well-being during retirement. With the convenience of online platforms, mobile applications, missed call services, and SMS options, checking your EPF balance has never been easier. Remember to keep your EPF account details handy and choose the method that suits you best. By staying informed about your accumulated savings, you can make informed decisions and plan for a secure and prosperous future.
